A large tranche of data from Des Plaines Valley Mosquito Abatement (Illinois) surveillance data has been added for the final VectorBase release, as well as surveillance data from Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Montana, and North Dakota. Coverage of the mainland USA is improving!

In the next year or so we will be improving entomological monitoring data from Africa, see this FAQ for more info.

New variation data sets for three vectors have been added this release - Culex quinquefasciatus from the publication "Using targeted next-generation sequencing to characterize genetic differences associated with insecticide resistance in Culex quinquefasciatus populations from the southern U.S.", Kothera et al, PLoS One. 2025 Jul 3;14(7), and two sandflies - Lutzomyia longipalpis and Phlebotomus papatasi from the Sandfly Genome Consortium.

As part of our planning for contract renewal we are discontinuing Apollo patch builds from the February 2025 release. The Apollo system will still be open to the community to make gene model edits, but these alterations will not be committed back into the VectorBase databases until Apollo has been transferred to the new contract holder. We currently anticipate that Apollo patch builds will commence from March 2025.
